Hiya, if you have big floating wood then soak it in a water butt or maybe a pond for a while. Failing that, tie rocks to it and pop it in your tank, in time the wood will become waterlogged and stay sunk.

You've got it mate, a hammer and chisel and some safety goggles. Sometimes it's quite white on the inside so chisel accordingly and be careful! :Tip: To save loosing an eye or more importantly the sexy little bits that fly off (joke), try and cover as much of the rock with a towel and then hit...

Unipac sell quality replica rock, AquaEssentials stock it. They do Okiishi, Sutishi and Ocean rock, all of them look like REAL rocks :D

I agree but the stuff at the bottom is mingin' and silty generally. Personally i wouldn't want that in my tank, doubt it would stay clear and the slightest disturbance and you could be in trouble :(

Unipac do "limpopo black" it's good but unlike most Unipac products, it must be washed first.

I'll have a go with Jurassic dawn in the Medium category and the Little Mountain replacement in the Small. Dunno how either will do but we'll see, i like the feedback :D

Mate i really like it, the bolbitis is very dominating but thats not a bad thing! You can't tell from the photos that you have algae issues. The only critique i would give is that the sand is quite clinical and flat, a bit of tweaking and it's done IMO. Love your work pal

Hi mate,it really depends on what you want. I can do solid colours, gradients or pictures printed to self adhesive.

James, i'm aware that there are many great photographs and photographers on here but i found these particularly good.

I've seen those in LFS's, they are really inexpensive. It's just a roll of continuous image, it might be worth ringing a few LFS's and see if they stock it. I could recreate one no probs but it wouldn't really be cost effective.

Re: 120cm, 370 litre preview The Green Machine sell it, it'll benefit from a good wash but i suppose thats to be expected. I'm loving the photos George, some of the finest i've seen on here. The 'scape is look great too :D

Iwigumis are quality if done right, they are real hard to do right so no doubt many people are put off by the challenge?

For me it's a toss up between Zig's Mountainscape and Graeme Edwards' Woodland Glaze (which most people never really got to see) Both very differnt scapes but both created a scene far bigger than it's physical size and that to me is the ultimate.

I quite like it mate, the wood on the right isn't quite right though IMO. The two branches are almost the same length and it doesn't balance the layout quite right? maybe they are too long? Once the stems at the back grow in i think it'll look really nice. Is there some Hygro Poly at the back...

my wood came from AE about 12 months ago and it was a much darker colour than the stuff we see in the hobby at the minute which may explain the extra tannins in my wood?

Redmoor will leach tannins IME and it goes "moldy" after a week or so but it will only last another week, scrape it off with an old toothbrush if your worried about it. It's a night mare to get sunk isn't it! :roll:

I'd go for them being ok too. I don't get too hung up on the whole "must be fish safe" thing, I wouldn't be stupid and bang a load of rubbish in there but small things like stainless in the aquarium? i wouldn't think twice. If your really worried, pop it in a cup of water for a week or two and...

All sounds good to me. What i'd do to remove the sand is put a divider in where the sand meets the aquasoil (place it 10mm further into the aquasoil) and then syphon out the sand and replace with aquasoil, voila! :)

Nice one George! You make it look better than it actually is! 8) Its fissidens mate, my favorite plant at the minute, I got it from Aquatic Magic. It grows really well once it's got a hols and it stays so compact.

IMO an iwigumi in your tank would be tough but not impossible, it depends on what rocks you have and your willingness to spend good money or find the right ones. As the iwigumi principal is based around rocks and their placement then there can be no sacrifice on the quality, size and texture of...

i think its a VMM, a beautiful fish with extrodinary colours. I love this tank, the choice of plants for this intended low maintenace setup is superb. Everything seems to compliment each other and the tank dimensions. The way the harliquins pace the length of the tank is mesmerising. Ive seen...

A hammer and bolster. :wink: If align your chissle following the grain and hit it then it will split quite naturally. Generally i find that rock breaks up well and you'll end up with some really nice pieces.

I think you'll find that they are show tanks and only used for short term for judging. I could be wrong. I do agree that it is wrong to keep bettas in jars like that and the term "betta tank" IMO is just a universal name for a small tank. I bought my tank from Brian, a great guy and lives not...

The first one for me mate. In the first tank you have got the wood and rocks working together and then in the second one you seem to have "plonked" a piece of wood between some well placed rocks IMO. I'm sorry if that sounds horrible but i don't know how else to put it.

Thats a great example of a low maintenance tank mate. Another nice aquascape and a very well suited choice of plants. What with all your other tanks at the mo i'm not surprised that you've gone low maintenance on one of them!

Hi and welcome. If you could give us some info on your maintanence schedual that would help too. Where is would start is get some reflectors, thats a nice cheap way to boost your lighting. Iw would be doing at least two 30% water changes per week, more frequent change would be even better but...

hiya, slate would work fine but if you cut it to shape its gonna be hard to get it looking natural, I have found that using a hammer and chissle gives the best results. It kind of splits where it would "naturally" split.
