Hi Guys, this is shot with a sigma 15-30. The tank is 80cm wide and 55cm front to back! A very strange effect IMO.

Great discussion folks. Can I chuck this in the mix please? Just for fun, and to quickly see if using UWA badly can still create an added sense of depth and or scale.... This was taken on a 5DmkII, so a full frame sensor at 15mm. Shooting so wide has made this proportions of my new tank look...

I've had that before mate. For me it's when you've save something as a JPEG which wasn't originally a JPEG ie. You've scanned it in as a TIFF and then saved that as a JPEG. Lovely shots BTW mate!

I can highly recommend the EFS 60mm, it's great. The 100mm is also great but a bit more expensive.

The canon 60mm is great! I got it second hand from Ebay. I did want the 100mm but couldn't really afford it, i don't think i've missed out on much with the 60. Here are a couple of shots, hand held under tank lighting.....

Theres no difference to my knowledge but i've always looked as it as "you can take the colour out of a picture but you can't put it back in, so shoot in colour and convert afterwards" I'd be very interested if there actually was a difference!

I've been after a macro lens for a while now, i really wanted the 100mm but couldn't really justify the cost but then a brand new 60mm popped up on ebay for only £220 so i snapped it up. I've not had much chance to play with it but here are the first few shots i've taken with it... Lemon...

A nice conundrum to be in pal! Here are a couple of shot from TGM using Stu's 10-22mm Canon. Possibly a bit extreme LOL I'm sure Stu could show you some better images using it, i'm just an amateur with a pro's gear :lol: I swear, the full tank shot was taken with the end of the lense less...

They are fantastic mark, your absolutely right - it does look like a forest scene, nice work.

I'd go for 17-70 and a nifty fifty to start you off, i've used Georges 17-70 and it's a cracking all purpose lens. If your thinking of getting the 50D from a foreign sell on eBay, remember i got whacked for import tax, if they open it up it'll be about £120 but mine just said "digital camera"...

With help from curves and some minor exposure adjustments it looks like this. It's funny what other people see, i never thought about it needing to be a bit brighter but your dead right, much better IMO

I did this using Photomatix and the Tone Compress feature, four photos stitched in photoshop, it's a bit different....

Well i'm well impressed! They are better than i've done and i've had an SLR for a couple of years now! The only thing i would say is make sure the tank glass is clean, either that or do it in photoshop. :D

they look great for someone getting used to a camera. I'm not sure on your camera but can you alter the depth of field? It looks like it. In your second picture, you have stuff in the foreground out of focus and thats a bit of a no no in "professional" terms, i happen to like it generally, nice...

Well thats just delightful! i love the corn, the yellow heads aren't very natural looking but adds an extra dimension to the picture, for me it invoked a feeling of things to come. HDR rocks, i need to get involved! As always, love ya work :D

Not sounding dim pal, when Graeme, John and I did the first PFK step by step, we uses almost the exact same model, just had one light and this was the result I did shop it pretty hard but it did the job.

Many of us are thinking about getting some studio lighting at the moment, mainly down to Tonser's and Saintly's quality results using it. I thought i'd show you a shot that Saintly took at mine, using his Bowens set up, it's really good stuff.

Crackin' shot and a great choice of fish, bang another 10 in there :wink:

Thats similar to what i was trying to say, the D40 and 350D are very alike in that they are bot an entry level SLR and you can get great results from both.

I had a Canon 350D and got some good results with it, Graeme Edwards has one and his results speak for themselves! You could no doubt find one of them, if you got a 450D for that money then you'd be doing real well.

Where have i heard that before :roll: so true though, i don't have a clue, all the gear and absolutely no idea!

I was racing at "The Mountain Ring" in Teterow, North Germany last weekend. As some of you may know, i race Grasstrack and Speedway Sidecars http://www.ccraceteam.co.uk Well, Teterow is in the same league as the Manx TT for the "something you HAVE to do". It's a mile long motorcross course but...

I work on the same screens as you Steve on a mac and i use the Pantone Huey device too, it's really good. Most of my work is in Pantone so it's absolutely necessary.

A canon 350D has done me and many others very well. A 450D is now more readily available, 12 megapixels and live view, you dont get that with a D60. A second hand 350D will do the trick right nice though.

Command-shift and 3 does a whole screen dump or command-shift and 4 allows you to selectively choose what you what to capture :wink: Loving the shot mate and loving the tank, you'd better watch that fancy new camera when the Scouser comes round :wink: :lol:
