    EI, macro or micro?

Today is weekly waterchange day for me, and i was just thinking to myself that after waterchange should i be dosing micro or macro on the first dose? It might be a silly question but i couldnt find the answer anywhere. Is there any benefit of dosing one over the other first?

    70cm High Tank

Hi, My new tank is 101cm x 50cm(D) x 70cm(H) it comes with 4 x 30w T8 bulbs, i know for a planted tank T8's aint ideal especially with a height of 70cm. so heres my question, would replacing the bulbs with 4 x T5's provide enough light at the substrate to grow demanding plants? or is the tank...

    cheep leds

Thanks for the reply, a local store here does the led floodlight lights so I might go with them. So do you reckon about 120w led would be considered high taking into account of the 70cm aquarium height? Or would 5x20w led floodlights do? I could run three off one timer and the other 2 off another.
  21. angelfishguy

    cheep leds

I remember cree leds were all the rage for a while, and Im sure they vary in quality and I don't have a clue how to tell what's good or not but would these be any use? http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00OLPNFGG/ref=s9_newr_hm_bGpux5_g263_i6 It's for a 315ltr 70cm tall tank. Could these work...

is 30x turnover possible in a planted tank? i ask because thats what i currently have. it looks okay to me but i could be wrong. its a powerhead that gives 1500lph on a 50ltr tank, im also wondering if the flow will be too strong for shrimp and get sucked into the powerhead, ive added a video...

    learning it from scratch

Off hand i think that the 2217 is rated 1000lph so that would be about 20 times turnover, it has tap valves on both the inlet and outlet but i wonder would closing these a little would reduce the life of the filter? Any thoughts on the 150w MH?
  37. angelfishguy
