Cheers BJ. These things happen. I'm just taking it in my stride and looking at it as an opportunity to consider new planting combo's.

No idea. Only thing I can think of is maybe the power cut off and cut out the heater and lighting timer. The oven clock was blinking.
The separate tank I think has a flaw in the perspex. It was an interpet nano. Had full refund from amazon so searching used ads for a temp tank for shrimps and...
Disaster has struck twice. Came back from a weekend break and all plants dead. Plus separate tank has developed a crack.

Thanks matey. Not sure what to do about CO2 levels while I'm waiting for the new cannister to arrive. I've just been using natural daylight to mimimise the plants demand.

Well I've had a few teething problems the light unit cut out after 3 days and the other day I came back to find the CO2 had leaked from the seal. But surpringly it's looking good. Thanks for asking B.J.

I have a hang on filter running and I'm really unhappy at the circulation. Think this is something you could trial before you pop in the substrate.

Flooded. Dunes happened but I kinda like them. The pheonix moss floated but trying to weight it down with small pebbles until it attaches properly. Don't really want to use glue unless I have too.

I'm only slightly concerned about the filter as I've bundled only sand in its flow so when it starts shifting it about, it should just cause dunes to appear (she hopes!!!) . No I suspect if any soil shifts it will be because I've been dumb and dislodged something while flooding.
not long...
I was thinking of getting some rounded natural gravel and some weathered pebbles from a stream at the inlaws place and graduating it into the substrate. Do you think that would work?

Just planted up the decapitated fluval edge and I'm wondering whether I should add ferts to the water in the misting bottle so the plants can benefit from a foliar feed?
Wow. Thanks. So much useful info. Will read the link and look into tiger shrimp availability by me. Will also look at whether their is a new flexible model in the pipeline.

Meant to say looking at shrimp. Couple of ammano and depending on substrate reds/yellows or blue green shrimps. And a snail. It's feels too small for fish.

Thanks very informative. Hoping to go for greens browns and red hues in the plants. With green around the base of the wood to highlight colour. Plant wise have received brown crypts and peacock moss today. They are being temporarily housed in my other tank and will form part of the scape...
Thanks. I'm really pleased with how good the clean tank looks. Going to source rocks and substrate tomorrow. Any suggestions that will look weĺl with the wood colour?

The top is off. Testing it's integrity hasn't been effected. Will keep you all updated on the progress.
Please excuse the glamorous kitchen setting [emoji12]

Agreed they are on the pricey side.
But the ferts seem good and trying to resist a new tank. Can't really afford one this close to Christmas.

ALTO. Yup have LEDs. Read ALOT on low tech set ups and feel it is the way to go with this tank.
That tank does look good though and a very useful link if I change to hitech in the future
EDVET. Agreed.... getting old already matey. It's just very very fiddly and as soon as the hardscape is in...
Ok. So maybe I should consider anubis, buce and crypts etc rand save up to get the right setup for a high tech aquarium. Cool. Thanks for the advice.

Hi Edvet. No sorry. Was having issues with the subsoil and sand so decided to start again from scratch. But I noticed the co2 wasn't circulating very well and the small aperture at the top makes for frustrating work. So no photos. But this is the style of tank[/IMG] and this one shows the top...
The tank circulation is poor and the small opening is prohibitive so I'm seriously considering converting the fluval edge 23lt to an open top tank and installing new external pump and improving lighting. Watched several videos and it seems well within my capabilities. But would appreciate the...
Haven't seen or heard anything from Clive (ceg) for a while, maybe he got tired of repeating the same thing over and over again on questions from new members on algae problems and the like. It's not difficult to find the answers to what you want on here, it just can take a lot of time due to the...
Thanks for the sympathy. I'm thinking of starting again with dividers as you've advised and plan a scape with consideration for the effects of the filter. Landscape designer and keen gardener so can freely get hold of some membrane. Thanks for the tip....It was looking so nice though[emoji22] ...
Hi I have an issue. I knocked the filter onto full power (accidentally) but didn't notice for a few hours. In the meantime it has been busy rearranging the soil into drifts at the front of the tank. So where there once was a dip I now have sand dunes.[emoji22]
How do I get it back to how it...

This article is I think particularly good and amusing.
http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/content.php?sid=6358
I quote from the article. ..
" Where other fish may be streamlined and hydrodynamic, cleaving through water like aquatic gazelles, puffers tend to have all the manoeuvrability of an...
I would say that sounds high. I would be looking at maybe cycling min 3 times an hour upto 300lph max. not much waste with shrimps and ottos. Sorry can't help more with the filter.
But please reconsider the choice of fish. The puffer will eat your shrimp, and as far as I've observed they seem...
As a total aquascape newbie and new to the forum my impressions may help.
I was heartened to receive such a warm welcome and the information on the site is unbelievable detailed and extensive. There are people here who are incredibly knowledgeable and working at the pinnacle of this artform and...
Two of my favourite things LOT and scaping. I did a tank years ago sort of imaging what endor looked like after the war. Used some broken walkers and an AT-AT let the foliage grow over them it looked pretty good. But it was well before I got into scaping properly. You may have inspired me to...
Hi to all.
Love the avatar suggested Edvet. Andy D it seems you're right, not many aquachicks out there. Wonder why when it's such fun???

Hi all thanks for making me welcome. Spent ages drooling over the awesome tanks you've all created. Can only hope to eventually get anywhere near as skilled. Are there many female aquascapers out there??

Hi all new to the forum but a keen aquatic gardener and tropical fish enthusiast. Just starting on a new 23lt shrimp tank and looking for inspiration, to absorb other members knowledge and have a good old gab with like minded people.
