Canister filters for planted nano shrimp tank

I need some help!
Currently I have my aquael 30litre shrimp setup which comes with a handy 200-400lph internal shrimp safe filter.
I want to go external though, is there any recommendations out there??

Hi Dantrasy,
Did you have to modify the outlet vent in anyway to avoid the shrimp (or shrimplets as in my case) being sucked onto it? I would love to know how you went about it as I am thinking of going down this route as I'm not getting a good flow with my Eheim corner filter set up.

Yes I added 12mm a shrimp guard. Got it from eBay.

how did it go?

are you using the regular green eheim intake? if so connect a short bit of hose to it and 'screw' on the shrimp guard. on one of my tanks I'm using the green eheim intake. I cut it short, so with the shrimp guard connected it's only 2cm or so under the water. i did this because the scape is built up high at the back (the intake is hanging over the back glass).
